Most of the recipes, especially the pasta dishes ,are from the Emilia-Romangna district, considered by most as the culinary capital of Italy. The illustrations, particularly those showing the method of rolling out homemade pasta dough, bring me back to childhood days An absolute must for understanding the essence and soul of Italian cooking. .

I purchased this cook book for my daughter-in-law for Christmas. She wants to try her hand at Italian cooking. I got my first copy over 30 years ago and I still use it. Northern Italian cooking is healthy and easy. I know she will love it as much as I do.

There are very few times when I cook that I do not reach for this book first. Marcella has provided extremely detailed, delicious and coordinated methods to put together an extraordinary meal. The way that she lets the reader know what courses should go first or next is amazing and always on target. You WILL impress your dinner guests! This, Rao's cookbook and of course Joy of Cooking are the essentials as far as I am concerned. If you think you understand Italian cooking then test yourself with this book. I guarantee that you will learn new and insightful ways to prepare food that you never imagined. The fresh pasta section alone is worth the cost!

One of the best books I have ever read!

When I ordered this book I had not yet heard anything about it. I originally saw it on Facebook. I thought it was a real estate book. I was initially disappointed when i Opened it to find it was a fiction book. I read a lot of business books but never read fiction. I started to read it at about 9:30 pm and stayed up until about 3:30 am to finish it. It was that good. It has really made an impact on my thinking and I am still thinking about this book daily and making the necessary changes. I was definitely pleasantly surprised as I had no expectations going into it. I highly recommend the book!

Good thought, not very well executed

The point of the book is excellent, living your live a different way then that of the world. I agree 100% with all of the content and maybe some people who have not heard the message need this book to get started.

My problem was this book read more like a cheesy teen devotional then an actual fiction book.

Also, while the idea is good, I think that most people could get more detail and action steps from a book like Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover. They are bother similar in content, but Dave's book actually shows you how to take action. Lifeonaire does not give you a good plan on how to get started.

So if you are deep in debt and want a $500,000 boat, you probably shouldn't buy it. In a way, parts of this book is like Suze Orman's "Can I Afford It" where people call in and ask if they can afford ridiculous things even though they're broke.

It also felt like they were self-promoting their seminars which felt a little Guru-ish to me, which I am not a big fan of.

Keep Washington weird

My husband and I love to just hope in the car and drive somewhere new so when I saw this book I knew we could have some fun with it. So we try visit as many sites in this book as we can. So far we have been to 8 or 9 and it just gives us a little purpose to driving to find somewhere new. here was also some interesting stories in there that I had not heard before. Definitely check out if you live or are visiting Washington!
