A lifetime of weight loss and wellness!

As a long time Fat Flush fan and reader of Gittleman's, I had the chance to preview this book and once again I am fascinated with this refreshing approach to diet and detox...it truly is revolutionary! This book builds upon the concepts introduced in the first book, but definitely takes it to the next level! If you're a Fat Flush veteran, you'll love the 3-Day tune up to break a plateau, get back on track or jumpstart results. I was so excited to see some of the new legal food additions including coconut oil and avocado in Phase 1 as well as updated sweeteners and recipes. I think some of the changes have simplified the plan and made it much more doable. If you're a vegetarian, you'll see more specific options for you (this was something not included in the first book). One of the things that I most appreciate about the Fat Flush concept is that it not only goes beyond the "calories in, calories out" model subscribed to by so many other diets out there, but it also takes a total lifestyle approach to weight loss and overall wellness. While some people might find this overwhelming (another reviewer mentioned the baths, cookware, etc.), these are all suggestions to help lower your toxic load and tackle what Gittleman refers to as "Hidden Weight Gain Factors". If you're not reducing your exposure to toxins and addressing issues like hypothyroidism, an inability to digest fats (good and bad), not drinking enough water, or have a gut that's out of balance, you're not going to get the weight loss results you want long term. In the world we live in, these are just factors we cannot ignore! Even if you aren't able to follow everything in the book to a "t", just do what you can to make the concepts work for you and you'll be far better off than you would otherwise. If you're simply looking for a "magic bullet" or fast crash diet, then this book may not for you. However, if you're looking for a whole new approach to healthy living that includes all the tools you need for a lifetime of weight maintenance and wellness, you've come to the right place!

A Life Changer

As a Fat Flush follower, I was looking forward to this new updated book--very happy to have read a pre-view copy. What I have always enjoyed about Dr. Ann Louise's approach is the thorough job she does in informing her readers of the many and complex reasons why we cannot lose weight. While other diet programs focus on quick fixes with temporary results, addressing only one or two problematic reasons--Ann Louise's current info generated from her vast research and experience with clients-- addresses all the known problematic reasons. Simply read the book, become informed and select the reason she lists which may apply to you. Nicely spelled out in "The 10 Hidden Weight Gain Factors" the reasons listed are a real eye-opener! This is an expansion of the original Fat Flush "5 Hidden Weight Gain Factors" and this addition alone is well worth your investment in the book! This book aims to reach (help) many. What is suggested is a lifestyle change--and after you become informed of the huge toxic burden our bodies are dealing with in these times--you will WANT to change how you eat and live. You will learn how to eat clean and enjoy the fine recipes while you do. This is a leap going beyond a simple diet-- it addresses so much more than weight. In this comprehensive book, the 10 weight gain factors, the suggestions and other options given is an invaluable resource for us. It brings us to a place where we become aware and informed--transforming ourselves from reactive to pro-active in navigating our health plan. Why can we not get healthy and feel better? We will have a pretty good idea after reading this book! There is a tremendous vacuum out there regarding preventive care, sound nutrition and maintaining and building health. I had read the diet books throughout the 1990's, trying their suggestions with no results. After giving up on them and their books-- resigning myself that I will never feel as good as I did before menopause, I found the "Fat Flush Plan". I am feeling better and on the road to health and wellness. A cautionary note: anyone new to reading Fat Flush may feel overwhelmed by the wealth of information, but for myself, I love and appreciate the gift. The reason being-- we need to KNOW (the myriad of reasons) in order to become well and take charge of our health. I would rather be informed and have the knowledge so I can choose what will work for me. If it is not there, you cannot make informed choices, so thank you, Dr. Ann Louise! I would suggest you read the book more than once and keep it as a handy resource because we forget! Periodically, we need to be reminded why we should not pick up that processed, sugar-laden "food"! In the "NEW Fat Flush Plan" I like the new foods, sweeteners and recipes added (can't wait to prepare and enjoy) with additional options for vegetarians. Included also is a new "3-Day Ultra Fat Flush Tune-Up" --I have done it and I really liked it because I had such a burst of energy. It is a 3-day plan with a metabolizer cocktail drink and a smoothie recipe along with healthy veggies. It is great for people who want a metabolism boost, an energy boost or want to overcome a plateau in your weight loss. If you desire total health and wellness, weight loss and energy in your life, the "NEW Fat Flush Plan" is a great lifestyle change!

If you think The New Fat Flush Plan is going to be the same as Ann Loiuse Gittleman's first book, I assure you it's not, yet so much of what I loved about her program is still intact. There is so much more scientific data, as well as foods you can eat, and knowledge of how to prepare meals that are well balanced, enjoyable, and include those amazing fat-burning spices. That being said, it's a lot to take-in, even though I am familiar with the original program. This did help with understanding the role of supplements, because I already use them. I also trust the author's knowledge and have had success using her original program about 10 years ago. The info and methodology simply clicked with me when other plans did not stick. I purchased the new book simply to support her work, thinking it might jumpstart my focus on the program, never imagining there would be more to learn and embrace. Imagine being TOLD to eat 1/2 an avocado each day. This and other satiating good fats from her pages of menus have eliminated my cravings for sweets, too much caffeine, dairy, and pasta. It's not that you will never be able to eat these items, but not as often as many of us do. Ann Gittleman gets it! In my words, you still need to have your 5 servings of vegetables, and 2 of fruit, with at least 8 oz. of protein a day. The three-day tune-up, when you cleanse your system and ready it to be reintroduced to foods in a way the supports weight loss as well as healthy eating habits presented a steep learning curve for me. After the first day of the Metabolizer cocktail, I joined the Fat Flush Facebook group wondering how I might make this drink more palatable. Questions were answered by Anne G. herself, several of her assistants, and numerous members of the group. With their collective support, I cut out 2 of the offending spices, and substituted chia seeds for flax seeds. For me that was all I needed to enjoy this drink and know the modifications were still going to work. The key is: there are modifications for plan A and she has options figured out for individual success. Also, during these first three days, you are asked to drink 3 cocktails and 3 special smoothies - which are great. Well, there was no way my body could consume more than 2 of each of these a day. She said that would work just fine for my body and my needs. It did. For me this group is a must to feel connected to others using the program and their awesome tips. As with anything, you get out of it what you put in. This book could become a staple in your eating habits too!
